bedroom

This should really be called, “Wishing I was sleeping here, but yes, I am reading this.” Ha.

Bedroom:
The light streaming into this room is it’s numero uno feature, as always, but I am a sucker for simplicity with a mixture of pattern and texture.

Book:
In this journey of Ashley Judd’s she takes us to dark, uncomfortable places on the planet and in her life. We travel from the psyche of her lonely childhood to the very real streets of Madagascar, where the women she meets are turning tricks for the equivalent of 15 cents. I am drawn to her sense of compassion, yet feel her tendencies of depression that are a journey all in itself. Her mission is with PSI, and it is to bring awareness and tangible help to the crisis of AIDS in the world today. I am not finished yet, and it is not one of those, “can’t put it down” books, but I definitely going to finish it, there is a lot to learn here.

I used to go to church every Sunday morning before we moved. In August we re-located from the place both Mike and I were born and raised, where we were very involved, very busy, and very social to a town one-fifth of the size where we don’t know a soul. It’s been three months now and even though we didn’t have too much of an idea of what this move would bring, I feel like God had more planned than we knew (Surprise!). When you leave all the activity and busyness, it is interesting what things in life sink and what things rise to the surface. I LOVE that this is happening. Back to Sunday mornings…I am just not ready to get into that routine of going to church yet, and consequently this has left me Sunday Mornings at home, which I am LOVING spending by myself  (Mike works every other weekend). I still take this time as a reflective + dreaming, God + Ashley time. I try and stay away from design, since that is what I do every other day, and let the other parts of me be fueled…my passion for the world, for creative solutions, and for other cultures. The last few weekends I have found inspiring people to look up to, incredible videos of people doing crazy things with their lives, people moving across the globe to give total strangers a helping hand, and creative ideas that bring creative solutions. This stuff energizes me to no end!

One creative company I just learned about this week is Sseko Designs. I could tell you about them or you can just watch their vid at the bottom!
